Job Description
Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Solutions Transformation (ST) Team in the Software Products for Member States Unit (SPMS), Digital Transformation and Solutions (DTS), Information Technology Service (ITS), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV)/ United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna (Austria).
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Computer Information Systems Officer (Software Project Manager), Software Products for Member States (SPMS), and the overall guidance of the Chief of the Information Technology Service (ITS).
Responsibilities
The incumbent will provide training and support to Member States. This will include training sessions in West Africa, and other regions of the world, first and second-level support in operation, roll-out and deployments. The incumbent will contribute to the implementation and configuration of software provided by SPMS. Within assigned authority, the incumbent will perform the following specific duties: • Assist in coordinating and conducting system and functional training activities to end users for the goAML application, including providing advanced technical training of windows and web applications, including topics such as configuration, performance and security.
• Prepare training materials, design training courses, scenarios, data as may be needed and conduct technical presentations.
• Provide first and second level support for Application systems deployed in Member States.
• Participate in software configuration by identifying and documenting the scope of the product underway and enabling communication of these to relevant stakeholders.
• As may be needed, assist in providing development work and technical advice and ensure compliance with the established development procedures. Ensure compliance with requirements and UNODC standard policies, guidelines and procedures for software development.
• As may be needed, provide support in the implementation of .Net framework-based software and other technical systems and software solutions for Member States.
• Prepare technical and user documentation for applications.
• Ensure involvement in product demonstrations, scoping of projects and developing proposals. • Proactively keep all channels of communication with clients open. Communicate with clients on relevant Virtual Community platforms.
• Handle client complaints or major incidents effectively. Investigate and solve clients’ problems and bring to the attention of the Support Team. Keep accurate records of discussions and correspondence with customers using SPMS project management tools.
• Participate in writing reports and papers on systems-related topics, system requirements, information strategy, etc.
• Analyse statistics or other data to determine the level of customer service provided.
• Produce social media management and advocacy as may be needed, including publishing frequent media material, infographics and client outreach content on various platforms including the UN platforms.
• Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
• Perform any other work-related tasks, as required.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information systems, computer science, mathematics, statistics or related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).
Job – Specific Qualification
Certification in Prince 2 or PMP project management frameworks is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in IT Software training/support/delivery OR the successful completion of the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P) is required. Work experience in .Net associated technologies and TFS frameworks is desirable. Experience in combatting financial crime with technology in the areas of Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) is desirable. Work experience within the United Nations system or similar international organization is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
