Job Description
Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Billing and Clearing Unit (BCU), Accounts Section (AS), Financial Resources Management Service (FRMS), Division for Management (DM, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna, Austria. The incumbent will report to the Supervisor (Finance Officer) of the Team.
Responsibilities
• Record and reconcile more complex accounting transactions.
• Examine and record financial transactions of Field Offices/Headquarters/other UN organisations. • Reconcile more complex bank accounts in various currencies including inter-agency payment accounts. • Assist in the processing of payments to governments and vendors for good and services, interagency payments. This includes, amongst other things, calculating, inputting, and checking payments for correctness and communicating discrepancies to supervisors.
• Draft/prepare memoranda and other communications to various offices, departments and field offices. • Respond to queries from staff members and third parties.
• Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. • Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. • Perform other work-related duties as may be required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in accounting, finance or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to three for candidates who possess a first level university degree or higher. Of the minimum years needed, two years in accounting functions is required. Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word is required. IPSAS/IFRS experience is required. Relevant work experience within the United Nations Common System or similar international organization is desirable. Experience with finance modules of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems is desirable. Experience with SAP or Umoja system is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
